Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has recently launched its first smartwatch in India called Redmi Watch. It is priced at ₹3,999/- which is similar to Realme Watch, launched last year. Not only these smartwatches come with similar price tag, but their names also sound similar. Both wearables come with lots of common features and functionalities.
Today, we share the differences and similarities between the two that help you in making the right purchase. Let’s have a look:
Design and Display
Realme Watch comes with square-shaped design with a shiny frame around the display. There’s a single physical button on the right side to perform multiple functions like locking, unlocking, navigating etc. At the back, there’s a heart rate tracking module with pop-pins for charging. Realme Watch has 1.4-inch LCD display with 320 * 320 pixels resolution while Redmi Watch features a 1.4-inch TFT LCD 2.5D curved display.
Redmi Watch module is made of plastic and on the side of device, there’s a button that comes handy on multiple occasions. It has buttons on each side of the straps which releases the strap. The back of the watch has magnetic charging point and heart rate sensor. The watch is comfortable to wear even for extended hours.

Activity Tracking
Realme Watch includes 14 sports modes and these are outdoor run, indoor run, outdoor cycle, strength training, football, basketball, walk, table tennis, badminton, indoor cycling, yoga, cricket, elliptical and indoor cycle. On the other hand, Redmi Watch has 11 sports modes which include outdoor running, outdoor cycling, open water swimming, pool swimming, treadmill, cricket, trekking, trail run, freestyle, walking and indoor cycling.

Compatibility
In terms of operating system, both smartwatches run on same software, RTOS-style software. Redmi Watch is compatible with android and iOS devices while Realme Watch is only compatible with Android devices.

Sensors
Let’s talk about the sensors included in these wearables. The sensors on board of Redmi Watch include 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, barometric press sensor, ambient light sensor, PPG heart rate sensor, L-sensor, geomagnetic sensor and compass. Realme Watch has 3-axis accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and SpO2 sensor.

Compatible App
Realme Link app allows you to check recorded data including number of steps, sleep, heart rate, exercise logs and more. In addition, one can also control settings like music playback control, weather location, watch faces, remote camera etc.
Xiaomi Wear app comes with a simple interface and is easy to use. You can use the customizations to make it more personalize. The app is easy to navigate and the data is neatly shown inside the app with colored graphs and charts.

Special Features
Realme Watch comes with SpO2 monitoring which is one of the most contentious in this price. Both smart watches are water resistant; Redmi Watch is rated at 5ATM while Realme Watch is IP68 rated.
Redmi Watch has a special Meditation mode where the watch just keeps sending alerts to breathe in and out at a gap of every three seconds or so and records heart rate at the end of session. To make up for the missing SpO2 sensor, there’s a built-in GPS tracking to offer accurate results.

Battery Life
Realme Watch features a 160mAh battery and uses a magnetic pogo-pin charger. With this watch, you get 7 days of battery backup with heart rate monitoring enabled. Turning off the heart rate monitor, the battery life is extended up to 9 days. The battery capacity of Redmi Watch is 230mAh and the battery life is rated at up to 12 days.

Conclusion
Both smart watches are capable of offering excellent range of features at an affordable price tag. They not only offer you good value for money but also are a decent way to monitor health vitals. In terms of accuracy, Redmi Watch has an edge while Realme Watch comes with SpO2 monitor. The included sports modes are more or less the same. Realme Watch is not compatible for iOS users while Redmi Watch is compatible with both.
