Lenovo Shows off World’s First Laptop with Foldable Display

Foldable phones have been very popular this year such as Samsung Galaxy Fold and we are very soon to see some foldable laptops as well. Chinese tech company, Lenovo, has unveiled world’s first laptop with foldable display. The company wrote in their press release announcing it, “This is not a phone, tablet, or familiar hybrid. This is a full-fledged laptop with a foldable screen.” Lenovo is all set to start selling of foldable laptops in the year 2020.

This new foldable laptop will be an addition to the ThinkPad X1 family. It is expected to run Intel processor. Apart from thus, the device features a 13.3-inch 2K OLED display. The display has been made in partnership with LG.  Lenovo has shared the pictures of a prototype and has not revealed much detail about it.

The idea behind foldable design is to offer flexibility to the user. The laptop folds out into a larger two-sided display with one side working as a touchscreen keyboard. Also, the display that folds into larger screen can also be used as a touch screen device. Then, you can connect physical keyboard separately to it. The display supports folding even at 90 degrees. You can use it completely unfolded like a large tablet or partially folded in a book-form factor. The built-in kickstand lets you prop up the display as well.

But, the concrete details about the products are not revealed yet. We only know that it will run Windows and Intel CPU. There are no details beyond that including important specifications like RAM, battery life and more.

At this stage, there’s not lot many things to say about this folding laptop by Lenovo. There are no hardware specifications, no price, and no release date as well. But, it is encouraging to see how Lenovo is going to pursue this folding technology for larger devices.
