Xiaomi Tag: Competitively Priced Smart Tag

Chinese tech firm, Xiaomi, is reporting working in a budget-friendly tracking tag called Xiaomi Tag. Smart tags have become increasing popular in the recent times with companies like Apple, Motorola are launching their own versions. Owing to the convenience they offer, these are getting attention from people all around the world. It has been reported that Xiaomi is finalising the design and coming up with a smart tag in an affordable price range. Features

Xiaomi Tag will reportedly use UWB technology like Apple AirTag. The support for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) would enable more precise and short-range locating. This is similar to the “Precision Finding” of Apple AirTag. This tracker by Xiaomi is expected to work with Google’s Find My Device Network. It relies on nearly devices to anonymously relay a tags location even when it is offline. This feature is really helpful and adds a more practicality to its purpose.

Price and Availability

Xiaomi may price the Tag below $25. Reports suggest it will launch on December 26th in China. Its aggressive, budget-friendly pricing aims to compete with Moto Tag. Xiaomi has not confirmed plans to release the Tag outside China.

Wrapping Up

Although the full official specs are not yet available, Xiaomi Tag is expected to include UWB support for precise and short-range location. Also, it caters to the needs of Android users for being compatible with Google Find my device network. Until, Xiaomi reveals full specifications, it is not clear whether the Tag will include features like waterproof build, replaceable battery etc.
