Soon after few years of announcing Mi 4S, the Chinese smartphone giant, has unveiled Xiaomi Mi 5 at MWC 2016. The much-awaited flagship phone has finally been launched. Let’s have a close look at its features:
The device is smooth and looks and feels premium. It is really light with 129g and is thin at 7.25mm. There’s a notable little bezel around the screen. The curved edges along with a glass finish give it a unique look. Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a 5.1-inch display with 1920 * 1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone has an excellent screen-to-body ratio. The phone is locking a 16 LED light display which is ultra bright and power-efficient.
The Mi 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest processor, Snapdragon 820. It will be available in 2 variants: 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Expandable storage is not there. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 7.
Camera and Battery
The Mi 5 sports a 16MP camera on the rear with 4-axis optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. It includes a Sony IMX298 sensor and a Sapphire glass lens. The phone includes a 4MP camera on the front. Xiaomi Mi 5 is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which is non-removable. It supports Qualcomm’s next-generation Quick Charge 3.0 technology that can charge 80-90 percent in one hour.
Price and Availability
Mi 5 pricing starts at $262/- (around ₹18,000/-) for the base 32GB/3GB RAM with 3D glass body variant while the $354/- (around ₹25,000/-). It will be available in China from 1st March and will be available to buy globally including India in days to come.
